My family’s income was low, so I was thinking of getting a part-time job… or maybe a scholarship. I wanted to study without stressing about tuition too much.

I applied sa unang dalawang scholarships I found online, pero rejected agad. Super frustrating, at I even thought, “Maybe this isn’t for me.” Pero I didn’t give up then I tried searching about CHED scholarships. Pero honestly, hindi lahat okay sa profile ko some required grades or courses I didn’t have.

I also searched sa Facebook and saw more posts about scholarships. Super exciting pero sobrang confusing din. I had no idea how to apply, what to prepare first, or what to do next. Later, I realized there were different types of CHED scholarships for incoming college students, each with its own requirements. Nakakalito talaga forms, deadlines, ano dapat unang i-collect.

Good thing, I found a platform with ready checklist kits. I downloaded the kit and used it to track requirements, deadlines, and organize my applications step by step. When I finally got accepted, I cried from relief. Honestly, the stress at frustration nung time na yun were real almost made me quit.

    Step-by-Step Planning Guide

    Step 1: Planning

Helps you identify all scholarships you want to apply for in 2025 and record their deadlines early.

    • Scholarship List – all possible programs you’ll apply to
    • Deadlines Overview – exact due dates for each application
    • Eligibility Notes – reminders of who can apply
    • Priority Ranking – mark which scholarships are top priority in case of overlapping deadlines
    • Notes Section – para may extra info ka, like special requirements or contacts

💡Tip: Treat this step as your “master list.” The more detailed, the less likely kang ma-miss ang kahit anong deadline.

From my experience: When I first started applying, akala ko kaya ko lang i-memorize ang deadlines. Pero may mga requirements akong nakalimutan. Wag tularan HAHAHA avoid this.

    Step 2: Preparation

Ensures you complete all requirements before the deadline.

    • Requirements Checklist – grades, birth certificate, recommendation letters, essays, etc.
    • Document Tracker – mark kung ready, pending, or missing
    • Application Form Drafts – para ma-review mo bago i-submit
    • Templates & Samples – para sa essays, personal statements, at recommendation request emails
    • Backup Copies – digital at printed copies ng lahat ng documents

💡Tip: Prepare your documents 1–2 weeks before the deadline. Last-minute chasing of papers is the #1 reason kung bakit maraming students na-miss ang deadlines.

From my experience: Forms are easy, pero tricky yung documents. Gumawa ako ng “ready folder” para sa photocopies at soft copies sobrang nakatipid ng stress ko.

    Step 3: Submission

Tracks which applications you’ve submitted and when.

    • Submission Log – date, platform (online, in-person, mail)
    • Status Updates – waiting, approved, declined
    • Receipt Tracker – confirmation numbers, stamped forms, email proofs
    • Submission Notes – anything unusual, like email confirmations or extensions granted
    • Follow-Up Reminders – set a date to check if na-receive na yung application

💡Tip: Keep screenshots or copies ng every submission. Proof ito kung may issues later.

From my experience: Kailangan ko minsan patunayan na na-submit ko on time. Buti na lang may email receipt ako na na saved, so walang problema.

    Step 4: Review & Follow-Up

Reminds you to check scholarship results and prepare next steps.

    • Results Log – record accepted, waitlisted, rejected
    • Follow-up Notes – kung may additional documents or interviews na kailangan
    • Next Opportunities – list other scholarships still open
    • Reflection Section – note kung ano ang effective at ano pwedeng improve next time
    • Plan B Options – track alternative scholarships or backup funding

💡Tip: Kahit may isang hindi ma-approve, still may others lined up if maayos ang tracking mo.

From my experience: Rejection can feel heavy, pero nakita ko sa tracker ko na marami pa akong options. That kept me moving forward.

    Friendly Advice Before You Apply

Applying for scholarships may feel overwhelming, but with the right mindset and habits, you can make the process much smoother and less stressful. Here are a few reminders to keep in mind:

    • Start early – give yourself time to prepare instead of rushing near deadlines.
    • Double-check requirements – missing one document can cost you an opportunity.
    • Keep extra copies – always save both printed and digital backups of your documents.
    • Use your tracker – update it regularly so you know exactly where you stand.
    • Apply to many – the more you try, the higher your chances of getting one.
